I was unable to find Bulgar at my local Walmart and so I amazon ordered it. I have been finding that finding low sodium options can sometimes be a challenge. And when you are challenged what do you do? Retail therapy… aka Amazon.
Today I made a recipe from my new cookbook for newly diagnosed renal patients. This book does mention that it was designed for stages one-four and not for stage 5/failure. My husband is currently in failure. I am using this cookbook to help me learn how to adjust to healthy cooking and how to balance phosphorous, sodium, and potassium. I hate cooking pages that tell you their whole life story before the adventure… so here we go.
Finished Product –

In this lovely bowl you will find – Bulgar, Frozen Strawberries (hello economy and cost effective), walnuts, a teaspoon of olive oil, a teaspoon of brown sugar.
